Actor Vijay Sethupathi on Monday opted out of retired Sri Lankan cricketer Muthiah Muralitharan’s biopic 800 on the latter’s request.
This happened as the biopic’s announcement led to a controversy in Tamil Nadu over Muralidharan’s support for the Sinhalese-led government in Colombo during the country’s 26-year-long civil war.
As a result Sethupathi facing a lot of hatred and therefore he was sent a letter by Muralitharan on Monday in which the cricketer has asked the actor to quit the project, saying there should not be hurdles for him in future due to the biopic.
